Pharmacy Technician Training Program

PTCB logoThis Florida Board of Pharmacy approved training program is a PAID trainee program designed to provide comprehensive pharmacy training. This training will prepare candidates for a qualifying exam in order to be eligible to register as a pharmacy technician in the state of Florida.

  • 7-10-week program with training in outpatient and inpatient pharmacy settings.
  • Includes didactic, self-study, and practical training.
  • No cost for the program if the trainee commits to working as a pharmacy technician at UF Health Shands Hospital for at least 12 months following the program.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must know how to operate a calculator, telecommunication equipment, and computer workstation.

Required Skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic algebra knowledge. Must take validated math competency test administered by HR. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass.

Preferred Skills

  • One year (24 credit hours) of college level study, including successful completion of algebra.
  • Prior experience with customer service.
